Highland Games take place at various venues throughout the summer. Some of these are very much audience participation events as well as featuring the heavy events, such as tossing the caber. There are Highland Games in Inverness, Strathpeffer, Tain, Lochcarron and various other locations. One of our favourites is the Strathconon Games where you are actively encouraged to take part in all the running events as well as sack races and egg and spoon races for the children. These take place in July and August for the main part and are a really great day out.

The Black Isle Show is an agricultural show which takes place annually in Muir of Ord in early August. Primarily a farming event it also has plenty to keep children and adults interested from local produce to the fun fair rides.

Also, in August, is the Moy Game Fair, about 10 miles south of Inverness. This fair features a variety of field sports as well as the infamous terrier racing. Again, a great day out for all the family.
